Description
Sand dollar necklace is named that because it looks like money. The story evolved that sand dollars were mermaid money. In reality a sand dollar is a flat, burrowing sea urchin.
Most people only see sand dollars after they’ve died. When a marine species is alive, its hue can range from a deep reddish-brown to a bright purple.
